CRIS & Comcast Cares Day

CCD: Some of the CRIS vols getting ready to get to it.

On April 22 volunteers from CRIS Radio teamed up with employees of Comcast on Comcast Cares Day to help spruce up Smith Elementary School in New Britain.  This is part of a statewide event for Comcast that brings partners together for a day of volunteerism.

15 CRIS volunteers pitched in for a couple of hours, painting classrooms, planting flowers and eating doughnuts. Comcast has been a great friend of CRIS, running PSAs, providing grant money, making their technology and hardware available to expand CRIS services.  Agreeing to partner with them was a little way to say thank you back.

Chris started volunteering at CRIS 15 years ago to fill his dreams of being a broadcaster. In this time, he has met many people who became friends and happened to use CRIS Radio, enriching Chris' own appreciation of the CRIS experience. His career has included many opportunities to advocate for people with disabilities, especially concerning employment.  He attended CCSU and Trinity College, and is passionate about Tuesday sports and Hartford history.  His long term goals include changing his name, so he doesn't have to introduce himself saying "Chris from CRIS".
