Amazon Echo (Hands-free with Alexa)

  1. Create an Amazon account – you do not need an Amazon Prime account.
  2. Place the Echo device in a central location (at least eight inches from any walls and windows).
  3. Download the Amazon Alexa app on your mobile device and sign in. The Echo will work best if you have accounts with Amazon and Google. Having these passwords and the password for your Wi-Fi are very helpful.
  4. Be sure to have the latest version of the Amazon Alexa app, which is free. The Amazon Alexa app is compatible with phones and tablets with updated operating systems and software versions.
  5. On your phone or tablet, go to the app store – Google Play for android phones or Ap Store for an iPhones.
  6. Search for Amazon Alexa app.
  7. Select install.
  8. Select Open and sign in with your Amazon account.
  9. You can also go to https://alexa.amazon.com from Safari, Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or Internet Explorer (10 or higher) on your Wi-Fi enabled computer.
  10. Plug the included power adapter into the Echo device and then into a power outlet.
  11. Open the Alexa app.
  12. Select “Devices.”
  13. Select, select “Add Device.”
  14. Select Amazon Echo. The light ring on the Echo turns blue and Alexa is listening, and then orange. Note that when the light turns orange, Alexa is in set-up mode and connecting to your internet.
  15. Follow the instructions to set up your device.
  16. Talk to Alexa. Alexa can be configured to make hands-free phone calls, play music through verbal commands, and play CRIS Radio.

To Play CRIS Radio on Alexa, say:

“Alexa, play C-R-I-S Radio ‘slash’ Windsor on Tune-in Radio.”
