CRIS Partners to Educate Seniors

CRIS Radio has received a grant from the North Central Area Agency on Aging to train seniors in local senior centers, assistive living centers, and low vision groups on the wonders of new technologies.  Included in the trainings will be information about the CRIS app, how to use Alexa and other smart devices and Audio Reading Books. 

In addition, CRIS is developing a Technology Resource Guide, podcasts and a web page to further help seniors “plug-in”.

The first event was at the Enfield Senior Center and met with great success.  CRIS will partner with NEAT @ Oak Hill to help seniors explore the wonders of a smart home.

CRIS Radio

CRIS Radio serves people who are blind or unable to read due to other disabilities by broadcasting news and information published in 70 newspapers and magazines (50 general interest and 20 children's magazines) that folks need to stay connected. CRIS operates with the dedication of 300 volunteers at five regional studios and our broadcast center in Windsor, Conn.

CRISKids

CRISKids™ and CRISKids™ for Schools provides instant access to audio versions of award-winning children's magazines and classroom print materials, all featuring human narration.

Children who are blind or unable to read due to other visual, learning, physical, intellectual or emotional disabilities are eligible for CRISKids’ service.  CRISKids Audio Library  includes more than 700 titles of children’s magazines and classroom materials.

CRIS Streaming

CRIS Radio streams its programs directly to hospitals, assisted living facilities and senior centers, either through their in-house systems or through Internet radios.  Four programs available for streaming are: CRIS Radio (general interest); CRISKids (pre-kindergarten to grade 5); CRISKids (secondary school age-level); and CRIS en Español.

CRIS Radio Mobile Apps

For those who want to listen to CRIS Radio while on the road, CRIS has developed mobile applications for both Android and iOS (Apple) devices. Listen to your favorite shows on demand or live whenever and wherever you are.  Our partners at IDEAL Group made the CRIS mobile applications possible. Better yet, both apps are free.

For those with an Android device,  download the CRIS app onto your device by going to Google Play Store by clicking the link below.

For those with an iOS (Apple) device, download the CRIS app onto your device by going to the App Store by clicking the link below.

With the CRIS app, you can listen to CRIS Radio live or listen to its programs (including CRISKids) on-demand whenever or wherever you are.

CRIS Radio offers audio versions of Spanish-language newspapers and magazines for Spanish-speakers who are blind or print disabled.
